Eva Airlines is Now Hiring

Eva Airlines is Now Hiring!

Guess what? Great news: Eva Airways is not hiring direct entry First officers for their A321/A330/B777/B787 fleet!

Evergreen Airways, is one of the two largest airlines of Taiwan, at Taoyuan International Airport near Taipei, Taiwan, operating passenger and dedicated cargo services to over 40 international destinations in Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America. EVA Air is largely privately owned and flies a fully international route network.[4][5] It is a 5-star airline, rated by Skytrax. It is the second largest Taiwanese airline (after China Airlines). EVA Air is headquartered in Luzhu, Taoyuan City, Taiwan.

EVA Air operates a mixed fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft, with Airbus A330, Airbus A321, Boeing 777, Boeing 787, and ATR 72 (operated by UNI Air) airliners primarily used on passenger routes, along with Boeing 777 freighter aircraft used on cargo routes.[5] The airline was one of the first carriers to introduce the Premium Economy class (previously called Elite Class by EVA Air), which it debuted in 1991.

Due to the planned post-COVID expansion the airline has opened direct-entry First Officer hiring for their A321, A330, B777 and B787 fleet. No type-rating or type experience is currently required for application.

So, what do you need to become a First Officer for Ava Airways?

Eva has surprised many applicants by keeping their FO requirements much lower than usual. Eva is currently asking for candidates with the following aeronautical credentials and experience:

  • The following qualifications are required:

    • Valid, full, unrestricted ICAO ATPL (FAA or TC ATPL are acceptable) with first class Medical, (frozen ATPL not acceptable).

    • 2,000 total flight hours

    • 500 hours in commercial multi-engine, multi crew jet, MTOW > 20 tons (like Canada’s regional Bombardier CRJ-200/700 or Q400)

    • No-incident/accident certificate issued by authority and previous employer

    • 5 years of employment reference from aviation industry (or 2 years of employment reference from aviation industry if you have Educational Bachelor degree)

    • ICAO Aviation English Minimum Level Four certificate or FAA English Proficient

    Contract period: 4 years

How much will you get paid?

Eva is offering competitive remuneration package, including:

  • From the first operation flights, FO will receive full salary starting from NTD$206,000; ($6,700 USD) per month, after tax and accommodation expenses.

  • Accommodation provided by EVA (EVA quarter building)

  • 8 BDOs (consecutive days off) each month.

  • Insurance : Medical Health Insurance、Loss of License Insurance

  • Travel benefits : Privilege travel、Concessional travel (parents, eligible dependents included)

  • Annual Leave: start from 22 calendar days per year, accrued with seniority.

  • Sick Leave:Up to 30 days with paid per calendar year

How to obtain these qualifications?

There are several ways to obtain such qualifications and experience. To obtain, specifically, the aforementioned licensing and experience for Eva’s First Officer direct entry program, including a full ICAO ATPL, 500 hours PIC and 500 hours on a jet with MTOW over 20 tonnes, we recommend our FPAP-C (for international students), or FPAP-IND (optimized for Indian students) or PA-ATP-C (for CPL holders) program.

These programs in Canada can afford the enrolled students an opportunity to build extensive flight time by using the PGWP (post-graduate work permit) after completion of the study period for employment as flight instructors on propeller aircraft; followed by CEC (Canadian Experience Class) application for employment permit in the Canadian airlines as First Officers. Most regional airlines in Canada operate aircraft with MTOW (max takeoff weight) over 20 tonnes (such regional airlines include Jazz Aviation and many more - see full list here). After achieving the required aeronautical experience by working in Canada, pilots can then apply for direct entry First Officer employment with Cathay Pacific.
